Imperial Four-Legged All-Terrain Transport (FLATT) Walker

The Rylaxu Empire has not always been at peace.  Twenty Generations before the Death of Hilgar, there began a great war, which lasted five Generations.  It spanned three systems and engulfed two dozen worlds. Through most of the conflict, orbital bombardment was simply never an option, and therefore most conflicts were fought on the ground.   It was during this time that the Empire developed the Four-Legged All-Terrain Transport Walker, or FLATT Walker.

The FLATT stands nearly fifteen meters tall on its massive legs. The "head" is mounted on the front of the body, giving the vehicle the appearance of a giant, four-legged animal. It is heavily armored and well armed. It's normal duty is to transport combat troops into a conflict zone. However, it's heavy armor and powerful weapon array also make it well suited to assault missions. The FLATT is not designed for stealth. On the contrary, it is designed to be as intimidating and obvious as possible. It carries enough supplies and equipment to maintain it's crew and passengers for five days. For longer, or specialized missions, any of it's three module bays can add any type of equipment.

The FLATT was developed by the Imperial yards on Rylaxus I. To reclaim some of the enormous cost of the military design, a "civilian" design was also developed. The "civilian" design mounts thinner armor built from less advanced materials, and has no weapons. Also, because of the enormous cost incurred by the energy weapons, a number of later models mount conventional chemical projectile weapons instead.

Yes, this was inspired by a certain film from 1980. I confess to finding that very cool and I freely admit to being inspired by it. ;-)

Vehicle is TL10, except where noted.
