Worlds of the Empire
Glossary
-
Homeworld -- Any Clan controlled world with more than one billion
Clan inhabitants, self-sufficient and significant political power.
-
Client People -- Any sentient species whose political power within
the Empire is based on submission to one of the Clans. (Generally, if a sentient
fails to submit to one of the Clans, it is ignored or exterminated). These
are considered Clan controlled planets.
-
Colony -- All other
planets with Clan (including client people) species inhabiting them. This is a
broad category and ranges from small outposts to densely populated worlds with
insufficient political power to become registered as homeworlds.
Clan Imperial
-
Throneworld III -- The only world in the Empire where cybernetic modification
has shed it. s social stigma. In fact, modification for
purely social reasons has become a fashion among the wealthy and influential.
-
Throneworld IV -- Famous
for its massive shipyards. It is an earthlike planet with two moons. One of
the moons has been mostly cannibalized for materials in the shipyards. The
remaining husk has been terraformed into a space station.
Clan Terralopsian
The Terralopsians control the fewest planets and have
no client people. They are very xenophobic and guard their secrets, but the
Empire is comfortable with them because they are shy, reclusive, have weak
weapons and share many of their technologies. Both planets have powerful planetary
force fields. Both planets have many starbases and extensive shipyards capable
of building huge starships (q.v. Planetcaster and Heartbreaker). Though
they will not share the secrets of their technology, the
Terralopsians export many prefabricated technological components, including
instructions how to incorporate them into other devices. They import very
little, mostly raw organic materials and cultural pieces like sports memorabilia,
paintings or sculptures. It is unclear which was the first world inhabited
by the Terralopsians.
-
Forebear -- One of the two Terralopsian planets. It is third from
the sun and has no moons.
-
Remsol -- The second
of the two Terralopsian homeworlds. It is fourth from the sun, has no moons,
but does have vestigial rings.
Clan T'laren
-
T'lara II -- A paradise
world protected from ecological harm by the god-like being Warship (q.v.). The
T'laren have built a resort world and tourism is the major export. Three large
spaceports and two large space stations support the tourist trade. One
spaceport floats on the planet's largest ocean. The planet has two small moons.
Clan Hubenka-tor
-
Hell -- A colony world that had to be abandoned when a near-miss
by a comet permanently disrupted the stability between Hell and its three
moons.
The
resulting gravitational disruptions required immediate evacuation and resulted
in the loss of a Frost-class cruiser. The only known sentients in the
system now reside on a permanent astronomical and geological research station
located in an unstable orbit far away from the planet. It is still technically
considered a colony.
Clan Averni
-
Rimshot -- The original
Averni colony. It continues to remain a colony because it never attracted
enough population to become a homeworld. Rimshot is very beautiful. It has a
few useful exports and has gained political power because of its status as the
first colony.
